Sweep on: a contact moves only as the arm passes it, the way a PPI radar works. Sweep off: a contact moves the moment a new position arrives.

A watched aircraft is marked LANDED when ADS-B reports ground, or altitude is under 200 ft and speed is under 40 kt for about 60 seconds. Removed flights appear in RECENTLY LANDED.

Historic/military detection uses aircraft type, registration, callsign, and description from the ADS-B feed. It is best-effort.
DATA SOURCES
Every feature in SCOPE names the source behind it. Aircraft photos also carry their own photographer and licence credit.
Routes & airlinesOrigin, destination and operator for a flight come from AeroDataBox and ADSBDB.
Airport boardsScheduled arrivals and departures from AeroDataBox. Where a movement has no schedule behind it, SCOPE shows a time estimated from live ADS-B and marks it as an estimate on the board.
Worldwide airportsAirport names, codes, runways and coordinates from OurAirports. Public domain.
Aircraft photosThumbnails link to PlaneSpotters.net, with the photographer and the original page credited under each image. SCOPE only shows a photo when the registration or Mode S hex matches exactly — without an exact match it shows a placeholder rather than a lookalike aircraft. The JETPHOTOS button is an external search link; no image is copied into SCOPE.
Airport conditions, forecast & surface windData from MET Norway (the Norwegian Meteorological Institute), via Locationforecast 2.0, licensed CC BY 4.0 and NLOD 2.0. SCOPE converts forecast times to local time at the airport coordinates and rounds wind values for display.
Aviation weatherMETAR observations and TAF forecasts from the NOAA Aviation Weather Center, a public-domain U.S. Government work. VATSIM supplies a raw METAR fallback when that service is unreachable.
Weather radarPrecipitation radar imagery from RainViewer.
Place searchTown and postcode lookup uses Nominatim, built on OpenStreetMap data under the ODbL.
Airline logosAirline names and codes come from the route data above. Logos are delivered through Logostream where a matching IATA or ICAO code exists; otherwise SCOPE draws its own initials mark.
Map tilesAviation day, Radar night and Streets are CARTO basemaps built from OpenStreetMap data under the ODbL. Satellite imagery is Esri World Imagery (Esri, Maxar, Earthstar Geographics and the GIS User Community); the roads and place names on the hybrid style are Esri reference layers. The active provider is also credited on the map itself.
SoftwareMap rendering by Leaflet, BSD 2-Clause. Typefaces are Rajdhani and IBM Plex Mono, both under the SIL Open Font Licence 1.1.
